چکیده

UWB (Ultra Wide-Band) pulse radar is a promising candidate for surveillance systems designed to prevent crimes and terror-related activities. The high-speed SEABED (Shape Estimation Algorithm based on BST and Extraction of Directly scattered waves) imaging algorithm, is used in the application of UWB pulse radar in fields that require realtime operations. The SEABED algorithm assumes that omni-directional antennas are scanned to observe the scattered electric field in each location. However, for surveillance systems, antenna scanning is impractical because it restricts the setting places of the devices. In this paper, movement of a body is used to replace antenna scanning. The instantaneous velocity of any given motion is an unknown variable that changes as a function of time. A pair of antennas is used to analyze delay time to estimate the unknown motion. We propose a new algorithm to estimate the shape of a human body using data obtained from a human body passing stationary antennas. key words: UWB radar, SEABED algorithm, walking motion, surveillance system

An Imaging Algorithm of a Target with Arbitrary Motion for Ultra Wide-Band Radar with a Small Number of Antennas

UWB (ultra wide-band) pulse radar is a promising candidate for surveillance systems. The fast SEABED (Shape Estimation Algorithm based on BST and Extraction of Directly scattered waves) imaging algorithm is deployed in the application of UWB pulse radar in fields that require real-time operations. However, since the SEABED algorithm uses signals received at multiple locations, this method eithe...

An Experimental Study on an Accurate UWB Radar Imaging Method for a Target with Unknown Motion using a Small Number of Antennas

Developing a cost-effective security system has been an important issue in crime prevention. Although cameras have been known as an effective candidate for this purpose, they have some downside, such as difficulty in accurately estimating the three-dimensional shape of a target, and the exact distance to a target [1], [2]. Ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse radar is an alternative for resolving these p...

Pedestrian Imaging Using UWB Doppler Radar Interferometry

The imaging of humans using radar is promising for surveillance systems. Although conventional radar systems detect the presence or position of intruders, it is difficult to acquire shape and motion details because the resolution is insufficient. This paper presents a high-resolution human imaging algorithm for an ultra-wideband (UWB) Doppler radar. The proposed algorithm estimates three-dimens...

An Experimental Study on a Fast and Accurate 3-d Imaging Algorithm for Uwb Pulse Radar Systems

A UWB pulse radar is promising as an environment measurement method for household robots and rescue robots. SEABED algorithm, one of the radar imaging algorithms, can estimate 3-D target shapes in a short time, which cannot be accomplished by conventional algorithms. However, the estimated image of SEABED algorithm has a systematic error even in a noiseless environment, which is caused by the d...

Accurate two-dimensional imaging of a human body in motion using multiple ultra-wideband Doppler radar systems in a multipath environment

This paper presents a method of imaging a two-dimensional section of a walking person using multiple ultra-wideband Doppler radar systems. By exploiting multipath echoes, we can increase the effective number of radar systems virtually. Although each simple radar system consists of only two receivers, different line-of-sight velocities allow target positions to be separated and located. The data...
